Common Service Centres (CSCs)

Introduction:

Common Service Centres (CSCs) are a strategic cornerstone of the Digital India programme. They are physical facilities for delivering e-Services of the Central and State Governments to Rural and remote locations where availability of computers Internet is negligible or mostly absent. They are multiple-services-single-point model for providing facilities for multiple transactions at a single geographical location. They help to improve Government to Citizen interaction by delivering essential public utility e-services to the needy citizens.

Common Service Centres over the years in Cooperatives:

With the above objectives, 537 CSCs were established in the year 2010-2011. Since then, to cater to the ever increasing needs of the general public, CSCs have been established in almost all parts of the State, in almost all type of Cooperative institutions such as PACCS, PCARDBs, UCCs, ECs, CMS, CCWS etc. At present, (as on 31.07.2021) there are 4,412 CSCs across the state.

CSCs serve a twin purpose i.e., serving the public by making all possible e-services available to them, and augmenting the revenue of Cooperative Societies that operate CSCs.

TNeGA (Tamil Nadu eGovernance Agency) as a nodal agency, supports and coordinates the initiatives of CSCs through DeGS (District e-Governance Societies) in every districts.

Earlier CSCs were providing service through e-District, e-Sevai and Digi Seva Portals. Recently e-District and e-Sevai Portals have been merged and it is known as e-District portal.
